Awful Tuesday practice...........

Today the Team were just not into the practice. They looked tired, lazy and very inattentive. So I left early and took no pictures....The best thing about practice was that the team mom gave me Alex's 2010 individual pose....not a bad pic but his hair looks absolutely horrendous....however he and his mom steph likes it long.....
so there you have it!
cya Thursday

Monday's surprise visit....

No football practice today....so Alex and Payton stopped over for some rootbeer floats..."Call of Duty WII game" and dog petting....as Im secretly snapping shots I quickly realize how grown up these guys are getting...not one fight not one argument not one dispute.............
strange phenomenon

It was a really nice pleasant visit
they must want something

2010 Tomahawks Game1 26-6

Yup ....you guessed it the saga continues....From the opening series I could tell we had the game under control.

Our parents were there early and pumped for our season opener..a winning mood was lurking in the air...it just felt good.

To top it off Terri and KK arrived early...you have no idea how amazing that was. OMG

We all headed over to the bleachers, they sat down, I on the other hand paced

Before I knew it is was 1/2 time and we were winning 23-0..

Mom Steph was there and Payton was there...It was an entire family affair.

Not to get to spiritual now but to quote the bible

"and God saw what he had done and it was good"

The day in pics.....

Parents gathering prior to our game.

Terri and KK arriving early ...OMG thats friggin amazing
We were most definitely going to win now

The game begins

"Stay close Alex You're goin in soon"

hustle in Alex

1/2 time lineup 2nd string about to go in

"take a break guys and get some water"

Timeout sideline huddle

The winners walk after the game

Confidence seems to seeping through this little guy

as if its just another day on the job
as amatter of fact he assisted in 3 tackles he was playing linebacker!

A simple victory smile at Willies Sports bar!
but.............
"was he smiling because of the victory or because I just gave him a buck"

who cares!

Dads never fail!

I had given up hope on ever finding the "REAL" plastic green water bottle of KK's that was lost at last weeks game......I replaced it with a substitute, but it was not received well. I then even went back to the scene of the crime...the football field and searched high and low...no luck. All hope was quickly becoming a mere faint possibility...and what does one do when all hope is gone. What does one do when the ideas run out? What does one do when the curtain begins to close? One say's a silent prayer..
Roses are red
Violets are blue
The water bottle is lost and
I don't know what to do!

And then a miracle happens while I was volunteering at a 1st grade football game..
the missing green bottle shows up...apparently found earlier in the week by the field maintenance crew....I immediately grab it, jump in my ride and head straight to KK.
The look on her face ...says absolutely everything!

Daddy's will always come through.
life's lesson: "where there's a will" there's a plastic green water bottle and
"there's a way"

.....and then there were 4!

My day starts as usual 7Am feed dogs, let them out back, get my coffee and then to my office to check emails.. now remember we have an overnite guest . Ms Gabbi..so that makes 3 dogs right?

Wrong, my phone rings...Its Patrick my next door neighbor "FIX YOUR FENCE"

"what ?"...I look out back and Mack Patrick's dog had forced his enormous head through the wire and was galloping around my back yard with Jr ,Ollie and of course Ms Gabbi.

I guess Mack was thinking in dog thoughts "I don't wanna train this morning Patrick I wanna go play next door with that new little sexing sausage dog...I could just eat her up"

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrufffffff!

It was a wonderful site!

life doesn't get much better!

I ran to get my camera(priorities right),Pat fixed the wire, the dogs got treats, and Friday continues

Its the small things that really count

good neighbors,good dogs

good bye

holla

ps.see my life is not totally consumed with Tomahawk football

Today at practice.......Payton

15 minutes prior to practice ending I'm totally surprised when I hear this little voice "shoulders grampa shoulders" This has always been his signal that he wants to sit on my shoulders...and I always respond as he instructs...how can you resist this face? that's a trick question...

you can't.

Well as u can see he paid zero attention to his big bruh practicing....he was busy playing phone games..but just the fact that he and mom steph were there was HUGE!!

I'm sure Alex was siked... He had been having a pretty good practice...He saw earlier and I gave him a thumbs up

Since mom was there

yesssssssssssss...............

I secretly departed and rushed home to a previously scheduled urgent commitment

You got it

baby sitting Gabbi

fun

fun

fun

1st day of school Weds Aug 25

Wow!!already
I spoke with Alex after his first day of school ,Big time 6th grade...."it was good" he said and yes he has homework....heard Payton in the background "mine was good too grampa"
Short ..sweet ...and to the point

side note...mom Steph is still hanging in there and getting Alex to and from football practice. Tuesday she managed to have one of the coaches that lives close by bring him and take him home...."parenting 101"

For those who are wondering why mom Steph has been so gracious an assumed the football chauffeuring duties this final season, giving me a much appreciated break. Well its a really long story but lets just say....

Alex volunteered her!

Must be livin right....ya think!

An amazing thing has happened and quite frankly I can't seem to understand how. As my blog followers now know recent events have thrust me into a deep depression, mainly because my gem of a daughter KK was practically having a mental breakdown. "Oh my" Why you ask?" Not because of the stress deciding what school to attend...
UC main campus, UC Raymon Walters, Miami Main campus or Miami Hamilton
NOOOOOOOOOOO!
Not because of the stress caused by working 1000's of hrs at the UPS store and practically running the place.
NOOOOOOOO!
Not because of the stress of whether or not to shop at Bridgewater falls or the Monroe Outlet malls....
NOOOOOOOO!
but because of a missing green IWU plastic water bottle
that probably never ever ever ever touched her lips
Well the amazing thing that I was eluding to earlier is some how in my search I stumbled upon a green IWU plasic water bottle
just laying in the grass...go figure "Hallelujah there is a GOD"
plus it just happen to be better than the actual missing one if I say so myself
so there you have it
grampa has redeemed himself and Alex also
It ,the bottle may not have the same sentimental value...

It may not have the history...

It may not have a story...

but hey!
Its green
Its plastic
It reads IWU
and
It holds water
holla

"hey KK can Alex borrow it again"

Monday, August 23, 2010

Such a gem.............

Look closely...click directly on the picture and scroll in close on Alex's football helmet...get as close as u can and you will see a lime green object inside his helmet...this lime green object is a priceless...let me repeat priceless piece of property ...apparently worth millions and possibly even life altering. This lime green object is NOW missing and this is the last known sighting of it.
IT MUST BE FOUND!
what is it you ask? what is this valuable item that
MUST BE FOUND!
what is this thing that I am in desperate search for? What can it be? what pray tell can be so important?
Well...are you ready or this?
Its a platic water bottle.....not insulated not thermal just plastic!
oh yea and it belongs to
KK
Here is where the dramatic priceless value comes in
The story: On the way to the last preseason game Alex says
"grampa I forgot my water"
I then call Terri to borrow one
"I dont have one Jay"
from the echos I hear
"I do daddy he can use mine from IWU, its just plastic will that work?"
"Perfect KK thanks"
That was then...
We picked it up on the way to the game and this photo is the last time it was seen
( amazing detective work if I say so myself)

Alex I we had no idea it would get lost and cause the frantic evening phone call that I received....
"daddy where's my water bottle"
"Alex left it at the field"
"OMG I WANT THAT WATER BOTTLE"
"KK its just a plastic water bottle as amatter of fact you dont even attend IWU anymore I will try my best to find it"
purely an unintentional brain lapse of a 57 yr old grampa and an excited 11 yr kid in a BIG game

But grampa's do may mistakes as much as hate to admit it
I must find this priceless gem..... for my gem of a daughter
BLP out....
brain lapse grampa

Sunday Preview game aginst Sycamore

This final 2010 preseason Review game is best summed up by another one of my classic "old school" sayings
"if you always do what you always did"
( practice, train, condition and work)
"you always get what you always got"
(a 20 - o SHUTOUT)
hello!

we even had 2 touchdowns called back because of penaltys

It was an amazing sweet victory, Alex played good and played most of the game on defense and even ran a few plays on offense.
He was able to assist on a few hard defensive tackles while playing linebacker
and run the ball while playing the two back.
On one specific running play he got the ball and was tackled really hard in the backfield...I even gasped seeing it from the stands
but guess what? No fumbles , No bobbles he held the ball like a trooper
jumped up and got ready for the next run.
seems like a small thing but really its not
He did not flinch and the guy that hit him was BIG.
After the game we all went to Willies Sport bar for a brief celebration, Alex and I had to leave early because grandma had made Alex a special victory dinner
which she mysteriously had already planned
Somehow she just figured we would win
sometimes grandma Terri shows signs of wisdom
emphasis on sometimes.
We all ate dinner and participated in a friendly game of dancing, balancing and running"WII"
KK did best, Alex was a close second, I was horrible and Terri never got out of the chair
see there another bout of wisdom as previously mentioned.
