Saturday Tomahawks vs Anderson

WE WON 14 - 0 Alex played the entire 2nd half offense and defense. After our victory we went to Willies Sport Bar for wings and celebration. We are still undefeated and we have one more game before playoffs. Pics show our weigh in which we must do before every game, our cheerleaders which perform at half time every game , our game. and our after game celebrations..which has now become a ritual. I think we only have a few more weeks of practices...boy the time is flying by! The boys sure get along good together.
As do all of the parents....Its actually BIG FUN!!

Thursday Practice

Today's practice was another uneventful practice ..primarily I think because our game this week is against a team that we should beat easily...my fingers are crossed..however since the practice was fairly boring I told Alex no UDF tonight...But he wanted MacDonald's ..."What? MacDonald's ..no way" He begged and pleaded So I posed a simple challenge..."Alex If you can sing all the words to a variety of Songs from this "Jonas Brothers" CD playing now We can stop at MacDonald's"

I had Big Macs for dinner.

I know it wasnt a football related challenge but nevertheless he aced it.

Weds Practice Gabby returns

Uneventfull nite........They practiced punting and returning punts. practices appear to be easier with the head coach gone for an entire week. The boys are not complaining.

Sorry to dark to take any pictures.

Grandma showed up with Gabby and Alex showed her off to a bunch of his teammates

Tuesday practice no head coach

Today I had to meet Alex at practice...He was riding over with Drake and they were late by a few minutes....but not to worry the head coach is out this week for work. Most of the players were there and they worked pretty hard in practice with the assistant coaches. The highlight of practice was the boys got to watch the cheerleaders...and of course you know who was right in the front row.
Thataboy!

Tomahawks vs Other Loveland team

We WON again...Alex played most of the entire game ...offense and defense...He even got his name called across the loud speaker"Tackle made by #2 BURTON"...It was 26 seconds left to go in the 3rd qtr and my main man made a tackle all by himself...enough said.
His mom Stephanie was there , his little bro Payton was there, his auntie KK was there and his grandma Terri was there. They all saw him play the entire game. after the game Alex , I and Drake went over to one of the coaches house and we celebrated with the team. Everyone had a blast...I surprised the team and coaches with Tomahawk hoods..They loved them. Pictures to follow. Well we are still undefeated and this time the 2nd team get a lot of the.final score 24 - 6 I think...all I have to say is ....NEXT?

Weds Practice...the worst

Not much to say this was Alex's worst practice..he missed easy passes thrown to him in warm ups, he did not hit hard in the tackling drills, he wasn't hustling very much, The coach had to get on him again about his defensive techniques and on top of all this he hurt his back while scrimmaging. I had my camera but refused to take any pictures...
I told him that with the hardest games were behind us and he would be seeing more playing time so he had better be ready.Even though his practice was weak we still went to McDonald's on the way home..But the ride home was grueling I spoke to him candidly about hustling and not being lazy and having the right attitude.

We'll see if it has any affect at Fridays practice.

I must remember He's only 9 and a first time footballer

holla

Tuesday Practice new field

We practiced at a new field tonight because our regular field is being used.

The coach congratulated the boys on a nice victory and then proceeded to run them for almost the entire practice...this was good...it keeps them humble and keeps their "eyes on the prize" which is to win the entire league championship and not get to comfortable now that we are Divisional champs...We still have work to do.
Grandma Terri showed up w/ gabby to watch alex and afterwards we all went to Skyline where kids eat for free on Tuesday nite.

Alex was most excited to see Gabby

No pics today....Next Practice Weds

cya then

THE BIG DIVISIONAL GAME vs Mason

This was the BIG Game....It was horrible winds..Roofs blew off the baseball dugouts...the winds were so hard that you could not hold your head up to see the game...I was sure they were going to stop the game. They did not...The boys played gallantly just like real gladiators...they were tougher than us fans in the stands but at least they had equipment on to shield them from the elements. The final score was 6 -0.. Only one TD scored....................................................by US of course..WE DID IT!
DIVISIONAL CHAMPS after 3 games into the season..Plus e clinched a playoff spot.
Alex and most of the 2nd string did not get to play...but not to worry they celebrated as if they did.
The remainder of the season will be easier and the coached assured that everyone will play much more.....Who cares..WE WON!!is how the boys seemed to feel.
We beat Mason . We beat the wind, we beat the weather We are The TOMAHAWKS...yea baby!!!!!
Afterwards we went to Willies for wings and refreshments...but the power was out all over the state of OHIO. Alex and I left and went home..trees down all over and no power..we grilled hot dogs in the back yard and reflected on our victory...Alex simply said" Grandpa its pretty bad with the power out and everything isn't it?" I replied "Yes Its really bad a state of emergency" He responded " But we are Divisional champs and thats pretty good"...."You got that right buddy..you got that right"

This was also a special day because just before the game Alex surprised KK with a custom Jersey of his name and #2 for her to wear back at College.....that is if she stays there longer than 1 week at a time.

It was a good day despite the power outage.
