Tomahawks 34 Indian Hill 6 WE WON!! AGAIN

This was an amazing victory..Plus it was a Divisional game It really counts.....
Our first string Black Team scored 3 TDs in the first qtr...then in comes our 2nd string Red Team Alex's team...We do a great job on defense and controlling the ball...Alex plays both offense and defense.

On defense he plays corner back first time ever...I was a tad nervous because corner is a tuff position...not only do u have to guard their ends in case of a long pass but you also have to be willing to prevent against run plays...My worries as a grandpa were put to rest when Alex was forced to tackle their QB Alone as he was on a run around the end...Alex came up ...broke down and prepared for an enormous collision...end result The QB was tackled for minimum yds...I went crazy( did I mention I happened to be on the field working the chains) Everyone was amazed at the hit/tackle....even Alex I think...The game continued in that fashion he had about 5 carries as a running back ..totalling about 8-10 yds..I think his last run he fumbled but he claims he was already down..At that point I didn't care because he had played an amazing game as the whole team did...Im sure I will have pics to follow but for right now Im savoring a great victory. Other notable points of interest from some not so common players
1. Stephen scored a TD on a Pass from Vanweelden
2 Dorff scored a TD on a pass
3. Conde grabbed an Interception

Afterwards we all trucked to Willies for the usual celebration festivities

CORNROWS...BRAIDS..Friday Aug 21 2009

First official league game is Sunday...School starts Weds

Alex wanted his hair braided for these events..Why you ask? I think because his dads hair was braided and dreaded for many years and Alex always wanted because of that reason...not too mention a number of Pro ballers have it done...like Randy Moss and my favorite Allen Iverson

The braiding took 2 hrs and Alex said it really hurt..afterwards I treated him to lunch and we got ready for practice...Everyone loved them teammates, parents and even the coaches...

I actually think it made him play little harder ...who knows

pics say it all Enjoy!

Sunday Aug 16 Tomahawks 34 VS Kings 7

This was no contest for us today...we scored effortlessly....Kings was not ready for us.

Alex played most of the game as the 2nd team running back and linebacker.

He had an outstanding cut back run the 2nd play that he was in. The coaches and alot of parents were impressed with his cut back moves...SO WAS I!

He also got very close to scoring the extra points on the last play of the game...

He was very happy on the way home.

Even tho we almost missed the game start because his mom had his shoulder pads and helmet in her car and she was at work ...therefore we had to drive to her work and get his equipment.

Its always a challenge with her!

Paul Brown Game Alex running the ball

Alex's first running play....Great job buddy!

Friday night before BIG GAME at Paul Brown Stadium

Well its Friday before the Paul Brown game against Mason

Alex seems pretty confident however hes had a tuff practice all week ...not hustling very much and Ive been on his case pretty hard...seems timid about hitting and nervous about being a running back. Seems like his desire is off a bit but he has a lot on his mine also.

Nevertheless I instructed him to get plenty of rest, drink lots of water in the AM and be ready for the 5PM game on Saturday.

Ill keep u posted!

2009 Jamboree game day...it starts

Well in a nutshell we one our first preseason game against Team 21 score 7 -0 however we lost the 2nd game against our arch rival Team 2 score 7-0 We still have some defensive work to improve ...Team 2 is bigger and faster than we are...we will most likely meet the again in the Super Bowl...but for now they still have braggin rights.
As for Alex he got to play running back as he wanted...when he went in he was a wing back and he made a pretty good hit on the defensive back which was impressive in my eyes..Especially after me preaching to him that the first hit is most important....he also got to run the ball and made a whopping 2 yards...
He held on and did not fumble which is all I can ask for out of a new position 10yr old running back.
The pics are of he and sleepover Drake the morning of the game eating instant oatmeal and bananas.....more pics of some players at the meeting place before the game and also pics of the team coming onto the field
All in all is was a pretty good day even tho it was over 90 degrees.....Alex was pumped the rest of the day even tho we lost to Team 2....He had been really nervous about running back and now he starting to understand what Ive been saying for the past 2 yrs...all he has to do is hustle in practice, always going full speed and he will be fine when game time comes.
Practice Monday lots of work to go...one more preseason game next week and then the real season begins

Saturday Team Picture day

Today was the official team picture day...went off without a hitch...although it was very warm today approx 86 degrees ...tomorrow is our first games we have a doubleheader starting against Team 21 at 9:15AM and then defending champs Team 2 at 10:30AM Its supposed to be 90+degrees...WOW.

We will see exactly how we stand this season...I think Alex is excited and nervous ...I actually allowed another player Drake to spend the night ...he and Alex are still awake and its 11:30PM nite before their opening game...boys are hard headed.

Pics are of Alex shinning his helmet for pictures and napping with gabbi ...KK's fat little pug.

Good nite ...Time for the boys to crash! I need to have them up at 7AM

Tuesday Practice cancelled Thunderstorms

Alex lucked out today no practice. because of the weather...actually We the parents /grandparents lucked out we would have been soaked

Im a little concerned the practices are not as hard as last year...hope it doesn't affect us in our first double header game this coming Sunday against Team 21 and our arch Rival Team 2.

Well when Im not watchin over Alex and Payton ...Im watchin over Jr(golden) Ollie(lab) and gabbi(pug) They get bored on rainy days...

Hitting starts

Alex started hitting today....They hot blocking dummies and some light tackling...Alex shows improvement over last year...hes' not as tentative and is slightly more aggressive. I told him he had to be if he plans on playing 'running back' ..His new position Hes pretty siked about it.

On another note The practices don't seem as hard as last year....I hope this does not come back to bite us ....I hope we are ready when the games start...in about 1 week.

In our coaches defense we did not have as much time this year we had 1 entire we less practice time...so we spent 3 days of running and now we start hitting and plus the boys need to be assigned their positions and learn the plays...that's a ton for 10 yr old boys to learn in a few weeks Heck...I cant even keep up with it although Alex seems to be doing fine.

Saturdays here so we get a break until Monday...no doubt I will be practicing with Alex over the weekend..."WHEN IS MY BREAK"
