I arrived at practice just in time to see Alex and the team huddling up and getting a pep talk from Coach Mike..apparently one of the new guys "Nick" quit...why? you ask ...well..........1st reason basically he was having a tuff time with the conditioning even though the hardest part was already done....2nd reason his asthma was affecting him which he had been using his inhaler quite a bit to soothe that and lastly his mom thought it was much too tuff on him...
It wasn't nearly this hard for him last year when he played for the non- competitive non- conditioning non winning "Stallions"
It takes a certain type of kid to hang in there and suffer thru 90 degree days, endless pains and exhausting wind sprints...it takes a certain type of kid to play on Team 4....and that type of kid is my grandson Alex.
He's not the fastest,
lord knows he not a hitter,
certainly not the biggest...
but thank God hes not a quitter!
Here he is taking a hand off
here he is waiting in line for a blocking drill
However it also takes a certain type of parent/ grandparent to support that certain type
of kid
Team 4 has a true community of parents
We're not the sharpest,
tacks in the box,
find us August to November..
behind Hopewell on Cox!
I love them all!
"dont mind me the poetry just started to flow"
holla
